SAN FRANCISCO—A tear in the fabric of spacetime opened above the 100 block of South Park Street Friday afternoon after two venture capitalists named Sriram Krishnan brushed shoulders while on simultaneous walk-and-talks in front of Caffe Centro.

Sources described a low hum and a shimmering horizontal seam approximately 10 feet across that opened roughly chest-height between the two men. Onlookers reported glimpsing a slightly different South Park with even narrower streets, alternate versions of modern vehicles, and a third Sriram Krishnan walking on the opposite side of the street also speaking with a founder.

Other venture capitalists in the neighborhood, concerned that the rift could expand and engulf the entire block, suggested to the men that they attempt to force the universe to reconcile their simultaneous existence by stating their full names, current employers, and one unique biographical detail.

According to a witness who identified himself as Sunil From Amplify, “They gave answers that, to the universe, must have sounded identical, because the rift then widened by two feet.”

After encouragement from another passing venture capitalist, one Sriram Krishnan mentioned a detail from a podcast appearance the other had not made. The seam narrowed, flickered, and closed with a soft pop, leaving no visible damage.

Neither man commented on the incident, both having resumed their meetings within seconds of the rift closing.

As of press time, the city had logged no further tears in spacetime, though a Financial District doorman reported a brief, unexplained flicker near a valet stand Thursday evening, around the same time two venture capitalists passing each other on the sidewalk both turned out to be named Akshay Bhushan.
